Since 2005, Operation: Care and Comfort's "Adopt a Military Family" program has assisted San Francisco Bay Area and California military families for one time support. The Bay Area is one of the most expensive areas in the country to live, and many military families struggle just to purchase groceries, gasoline and other essentials.

Military families and veterans outside of California should contact ogranizations in their own state for support, including Operation Homefront, American Legions and VFWs, for example. For those we have supported, we will rarely support the same military families more than once.
Civilian families, companies, and organizations may ask to be on a stand by list to anonymously assist a local military family that is brought to our attention by a military liaison. If you or your organization is selected to help, the civilian family (or company or organization) will work through the military liaison to help the military family on a one time basis with their specific need.
This could be as simple as purchasing a special toy for a military child, purchasing gift cards to local grocery stores, or helping to pay an electric bill. It could also be helping to get an automobile or dishwasher fixed—the needs will vary.
